Universal Symphony Remix

Pixelord

Alexey Devyanin, aka pixelord, has done it--he has created Soviet Juke.  Leading the Motherland's beatmaking scene, pixelord has dropped a track that beautifully redefines juke--reenvisioning a genre born and bred in Chi-town as a densely pixelated Moscow cacophony.  The track is a remix of Brighton's standout wonky futuristic juker Manni Dee's newly dropped track, "Universal Symphony".  Manni Dee's split release "Antidote/Universal Symphony" was just released on Vermin Street and features two other remixes by Alby D and Halp.  Hear pixelord's take on Manni Dee's "Universal Symphony" and preview/get the split release below:

Thee Physical

Thee_physical
Pictureplane has just announced the release date for his sophomore album, entitled Thee Physical.  The album's tentative release date is July 19th, 2011 on Lovepump United Records.  It was produced by both HEALTH's Jupiter Keyes and Travis Egedy himself.  The first single for the new album, entitled "Real is a Feeling" sounds like a continuation of 2009's Dark Rift, with a more pop-techno vibe; the song itself is named after Egedy's "house/bass/rave/synth/goth/queer" gatherings that occurred at Meadowlark Bar Denver last summer every other Sunday.

Here is the tracklisting for Thee Physical:

01 Body Mod
02 Black Nails
03 Sex Mechanism
04 Touching Transform
05 Post Physical
06 Techno Fetish
07 Real is a Feeling
08 Trancegender
09 Negative Slave
10 Breath Work
11 Thee Power Hand

On Fire: Malefique

Malefiquemf3
'Malefique' is both French for "evil, pernicious, or baleful" and the pseudonym of one of Moscow's most exciting beatmakers.  His latest tracks are laden with old crooning European lovesong vocal samples which are sequenced spledidly over jiving bass lines.  Malefique has no doubt mastered the ability to take just about any vocal clip and transform it--from something you would only ever expect to hear coming from a phonograph on a 1930's French promenade or in an underground billiards game in a smoky American pub--into a hip-hoppy-bounce beat.  Recently, Malefique has been exceedingly prolific, as he just released a six-track beat set of sorts, entitled "vol. 1", alongside a handful of other unassociated beats.  Check out Malefique's latest works below, including the guitar sample-driven "To Fall In Love", the vocal virtuosity of "Last Gleaming", the wonderfully glitchy banger "Colabwoy", and the mysterious piano track "Moon Glow" the lead track on his new beat compilation. Evil.

HD Beats Collection: April

Charlesjguiteau
This April has been relished with fresh new experimentalism in the industry of hip-hop beats and electronic production.  Sonic thickness and choppiness are tropes that generally define the corpus of work of the leaders of the movement for this month, featuring artists from Russia to Japan to L.A. and back again.  As the first edition of the Hands in the Dark (HD) monthly beats collection, April of 2011 features innovators in experimental hip-hop beats, productions that arguably percolate through all forms of electronic music production and shape the present face of the genre as we know it today, worldwide.  April's HD Beats Collection features many new up-and-coming producers, as well as some that have been around the block; regardless, the genre's history can credit the technical innovations of these producers for furthering its sound and bringing the future closer to tomorrow

Rising: ß¡†1

Bit1
A rising artist hailing from Cambridge, Britain, bit1 has established himself both as a persnickety sampler and experimental beat maker.  He is also a prolific musician: he dropped a 12 track album called Bits_n_Peace, last February, along with three EPs in the span of six months last year.  All are downloadable for free on his Bandcamp page.

The fresh, "bit-ifying" electronic artist has released several new tracks on his Soundcloud.  bit1's "stuckwiththis" is stuckwith turntabilized piano loops that hover over bass booms and a statically-charged back drop.  "pprclp_1" has a similar vibe, also featuring intensely hott piano loops, some orchestral violen and cello loops, as well various vocal snippets (from choir to reggae), over a twitchy bass and hi-Tom rhythm.  bit1 has created a sound that is as electronically progessive as it is catchy, and is carving out recognition for himself, among fellow electronic hip-hop beatmaker experimentalists.  Listen to and download both new tracks below:

Distant Hype

Distant_hype
Upon first listen Distant Hype--solo project of Alex Arditti from Chester, Britain--sounds like a poor man's Burial.  But upon further listens, his tracks offer more than ambient dubstep: they are more experiemental droning songs that are less choppy and more fluid than Burial's beat driven tracks.  Yet, at the same time, fingerprints of Burial exist on Distant Hype's songs.  The echoing backdropped vocals, churning ambient rhythms, and crinkling noises and blips still remain; but Distant Hype provides a different take on ambient dubstep, and an important one: he puts much more emphasis on the ambiance--the urban decay, infrastructural collapse, and dying centers of urbanity at night--in his music, that makes his sound even more haunting and lonely at times, whatever its relation to Burial and other predecessors.  Here newly uploaded songs "Home", "South Cheshire Boroughs", and "2 Weeks", below:
